 Light, Color and Texture This week we went over three different topics of light color and texture. All things you find when designing an interior to help add depth, focal points, and feeling to a space.  Let’s start with lighting. There are four different types of light that are important to a given space. There is ambient, task, accent, and mood lighting. Each with a given purpose.  Ambient lighting is the lighting you initially see, its the lighting that illuminates the entire space this lighting can be cooler of warmer depending on the space inside.  Task lighting defines a certain space, lighting that you would find over an island or by a desk.  Accent lighting highlights certain items, this differs from task lighting because it highlights artwork, back of shelves, or even staircases. Week 1 summary

This week we spent time reading about, and exploring Point, line space and volume. Along with how these are related to architecture and interior design.   While reading chapter one of sketching interiors, I realized I don’t sit down often enough to sketch the things that catch my eye, or that I find interesting enough to capture on picture.  The chapter started off by getting into how perceiving objects is important to how an artist draws. Where perceiving an object as an artist can be very different than for someone who has never drawn before. Perception and thought process is found in the right side of your brain not the left. Since the right side of the brain is creative, this leaves the left side to be more analytical.  You learn throughout this chapter that it is important to practice when it comes to drawing, and that not all sketches need to be perfect.
